Privacy Policy – Remote Users Scheme

  1. Introduction
    This Privacy Policy outlines how Crown Infrastructure Partners Limited (CIP) may collect, use, hold and disclose information that identifies you (your personal information), for the purposes of the Remote Users Scheme.
    Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. It applies to any personal information that you provide to CIP, or authorise us to collect, for the purposes of the Remote Users Scheme. By providing CIP with personal information in connection with the Remote Users Scheme, you authorise us to collect, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
  2. Types of personal information collected
    The personal information we collect will vary depending on your interactions with us and engagement with the Remote Users Scheme. For example, we may collect identification information and contact details (such as your full name and the names of individuals in your household (if applicable to your registration of interest) and your email address) and information relevant to your registration of interest (e.g., physical address and geographical location).
    Providing the personal information that we request is not mandatory, but a failure to do so may affect your participation in the Remote Users Scheme.
  3. Information about other people
    If you provide us with, or authorise us to collect, personal information about another person (for example, other individuals in your household in connection with your registration of interest for the Remote Users Scheme), you confirm that they have authorised you to provide us, or authorised us to collect, their personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and you have informed them of their rights to access and request correction of their personal information, as set out in section 7.
  4. Use of information
    We may use your personal information to administer the Remote Users Scheme, including to:

    1. verify your eligibility and evaluate your registration of interest for the Remote Users Scheme;
    2. identify areas (including residential addresses and geographical areas) that require broadband coverage;
    3. to prepare our request for proposals from broadband service providers to provide services in connection with the Remote Users Scheme;
    4. to enable our selected broadband service providers to provide services to you (in accordance with the Remote Users Scheme);
    5. to provide you with updates and further information in connection with the Remote Users Scheme; and
    6. to consider options to respond to your registration of interest (if you are eligible for the Remote Users Scheme).

    We may communicate with you by email and other electronic means.

  5. Information sharing and disclosure
    We may need to disclose your personal information to third parties to administer the Remote Users Scheme. For example, we may disclose your personal information to other government agencies, broadband service providers and third parties that assist us with requests for registrations of interest for the Remote Users Scheme. We may also disclose your personal information to any other entity that administers the Remote Users Scheme (or equivalent scheme) in the future, who may continue to use your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
    In some contexts, your registration of interest may highlight that you are not aware that broadband coverage is already available for your residential address. If that is the case, and you have expressly authorised us to do so (e.g., with a “tick box” on a form you have completed), we may disclose your personal information to selected broadband service providers to enable them to contact you about broadband services that may be available to you. If you haven’t opted in, and would like to do so, please contact us using the details set out in the Contact Us section below.
  6. Data storage and security
    Personal information is held by us at Level 10, 188 Quay Street, Auckland Central, or by a service provider on our behalf. We will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions. However, no method is completely secure, and we cannot warrant the security of any information we collect or hold.
  7. Data access and correction
    Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have rights of access to and correction of your personal information. Please contact us using the details set out below. We rely on you to update us if your contact details change.
  8. Changes in Privacy Policy
    We may update this Privacy Policy at any time by posting an updated version of this Privacy Policy on our website. The updated version will take effect immediately upon publication (or, if applicable, on the date specified in the updated Privacy Policy) and will apply to all personal information that we hold about you. If the changes are material, we may also take additional steps to bring the changes to your attention, including by notifying you directly.
  9. Additional rights and obligations
    If you use CIP’s website (including to provide information to CIP), CIP’s website Privacy Policy and Terms of Use will also apply.
    This Privacy Policy applies in addition to, and does not limit, our rights and obligations under applicable laws, including the Privacy Act 2020 and Official Information Act 1982 (as amended or replaced from time to time) or any specific authorisation that you provide to us when you interact with us.
